The Tenacity of Trust: Wrestling with God in the Hard Times

"Wrestling Jacob"
Excerpts from the poem by Charles Wesley

Come, O thou Traveler unknown,
Whom still I hold, but cannot see!
My company before is gone,
And I am left alone with Thee;
With Thee all night I mean to stay,
And wrestle till the break of day.

...In vain Thou strugglest to get free,
I never will unloose my hold!
Art Thou the Man that died for me?
The secret of Thy love unfold;
Wrestling, I will not let Thee go,
Till I Thy name, Thy nature know.

The Best, The Stressed and the Rest AUDIO

Here's an update to the message I posted about two weeks ago. The church kindly puts up podcast audio of their sermons. You can listen to "The Best, The Stressed and The Rest" here.

Even more fun? Compare the notes of the message to the audio. You'll see how much I improvise "off-manuscript."

Thanks, faithful readers/listeners!

The Best, The Stressed and the Rest

This a re-constructed version of a message I gave yesterday at Allentown Presbyterian Church. It's based on some rough notes. The scripture passage was Mark 6:7-13, 30-44.
